A fun weekend of animal-related events will mark the grand opening of the new Amherst PETCO located at 1459 Niagara Falls Blvd., on Saturday and Sunday, October 21 and 22, 2000.

Visitors to the store are encouraged to bring in their four-legged friends for exciting events like the Unique Pet Contest, Pet/Owner Look a Like Contest and a Pet Costume Contest. In addition, information will be offered throughout the weekend about obedience training and low-cost vaccinations as well as information from several Animal Rescue Organizations. For the kids, a facepainting clown and Bounce House will be part of the entertainment.

"Pets are welcome to visit us with their owners," says Store Manager, Jeff Hochmuth. The 15,000 square foot store features a small animal and reptile area, fresh and saltwater fish aquariums, a bird room and a grooming salon.

Store hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
