PETCO will throw open its doors to pets and pet-lovers at the grand opening of the new Allen store located at 816 West McDermott Drive, on Saturday and Sunday, October 14 and 15, 2000.

Highlighting the special events for the weekend will be an appearance by animal-star trainer, Joel Silverman, and Duke, canine star of Nissan, Budweiser and PETCO commercials. Joel will give demonstrations, answer questions and sign photos for customers. Pet owners are encouraged to bring in their furry friends for professional pet photography, obedience training info and low-cost vaccination info. Prospective pet owners are also invited to drop by the store to discuss animal adoptions with three different animal rescue organizations. A Sing for Your Dog's Supper Contest, the Snake Encounters Seminar and the AKC Canine Good Citizenship Test add to the weekend's activities.

"This is going to be a terrific grand opening," says Store Manager Ginny Townsend. "Visitors are going to love our full assortment of premium pet supplies and superior customer service," Townsend added. The 15,000 square foot store features a small animal and reptile area, fresh and saltwater fish aquariums, a bird room and a grooming salon.

Store hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
