Pet-related fun will mark the grand opening of the new Downey PETCO located at 8580 Firestone Blvd, on Saturday and Sunday, February 24 and 25.

Highlights of the weekend's festivities will include a celebrity appearance of Dick Van Patten, who will be representing Natural Balance Dog Food. Other scheduled events include a Fat Cat Weigh in, a Dog Biscuit Toss and a Pet/Owner Look-a-like contest. For the kids there will be a petting zoo, as well as a clown to offer face painting. In addition, several rescue organizations will provide pet adoptions and information throughout the weekend.

"We are excited that our new store allows us the space to carry the live animals our customers have been wanting," says Store Manager Michael Johnson. The 12,000 square foot store features a small animal and reptile area, fresh and saltwater fish aquariums, a bird room and a grooming salon.
