Battle Creek, PETCO's newest Michigan store located at 12765 Harper Village Dr., celebrates its grand opening weekend on Saturday and Sunday October 13 and 14, 2001.
PETCO first began serving pet care needs in Michigan in the fall of 1997 when it acquired a pet retail chain that included 7 Michigan locations. Since then, 5 more locations have been added, including this newest Battle Creek store.
PETCO also announces that the new Battle Creek location will be one of the first of a new design concept called the "Millennium Store." This new store design has two distinct differences from the previous PETCO store designs. The first and most notable change is that upon entering, one is greeted by our vast family of companion animals. The second is a new signage program that focuses on educating pet lovers on things like proper diet, exercise, and grooming to housing.
"We're excited to be bringing PETCO's Millennium store to Battle Creek," says Store Manager Mark Francis. "I think customers will be extremely impressed by the incredible new layout," Francis added. The 13,000 square foot store features a small animal and reptile area, fresh and saltwater fish aquariums, a bird room and a grooming salon.
An emphasis on pets will highlight the weekend's activities. Customers are encouraged to bring in their furry or not so furry companions to compete in the Hamster Races, Best Dressed Pet and Fat Cat Contests. In addition, a pet photographer will be on hand and customers will have the opportunity to get their pet's nails clipped. For the kids, there will be a clown offering face painting and Petting Zoo. Several animal rescue organizations will also be available throughout the weekend offering adoptions and information.
Store hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
