PETCO announces the opening of its newest millennium store located at 1860 N. W. Chipman Rd. The store celebrates its grand opening weekend Saturday and Sunday, November 10 and 11, 2001.
The new Lee's Summit location will be one of the first in the region of a new design concept called the "PETCO Millennium Store." This new store design has two distinct differences from the previous PETCO store designs. The first and most notable change is that upon entering, one is greeted by a vast family of companion animals. The second is a new signage program that focuses on educating owners about pet care tips such as proper diet, exercise, grooming and housing, all of which help establish PETCO as the "Pet Authority."
"We are the very excited to be here," said Store Manager Debbie Lund. "Customers are going to love our selection, service, and new millennium lay out," Lund added.
Many pet-related events are scheduled for the weekend such as pet caricatures, grooming demonstrations, and professional pet photography.
In addition, PETCO's own Red Ruff will make special appearances over the weekend. Several animal rescue organizations will also be available throughout the weekend offering adoptions and information.
The 15,000 square foot store features a small animal and reptile area, fresh and saltwater fish aquariums, a bird room and a grooming salon. Store hours are 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
