An exciting weekend of animal-related activities will mark the grand opening of the new Avon PETCO located at 9 West Avon Rd., on Saturday and Sunday, November 10 and 11, 2001.
Festivities kick off with the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9:00 am Saturday. Visitors are encouraged to bring in their felines for the Oldest Cat Contest. Small Animal Time Trials will reward the most speedy hamsters, guinea pigs, gerbils and mice.
In addition a pet photographer will be on hand, as well as, demonstrations by vendors and Rainforest Reptiles. For the kids, there will be face painting. Several rescue organizations will be in attendance throughout the weekend offering information and adoptions.
"Pets and owners alike will love our new store," says Store Manager Shauna Gereau. "We love to meet and help all of our guests, two legged and four legged," Gereau added.
The 14,000 square foot store features a small animal and reptile area, fresh and saltwater fish aquariums, a bird room and a grooming salon. Store hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
