Spring is in the air, a time when PETCO community's member's thoughts turn to ... love of companion animals. To aid that cause, the PETCO Foundation's annual "Spring a Pet" fundraiser is now underway, an opportunity for customers, associates and vendors of PETCO Animal Supplies, Inc. to contribute to the Foundation's annual rescue efforts.
Last year's drive brought in more than $900,000 for the Foundation. Organizers hope to break the million-dollar mark this year. The Foundation targets "Spring a Pet" donations to support animal adoptions, rescue, spay/neuter programs, and various other programs by grass roots humane groups.
"PETCO family members love their own companion animals," PETCO Foundation Director Paul Jolly said, "and they realize other animals are not so lucky. Since many of our associates rescued their animals from shelters, they realize the value of this program in helping place those sheltered animals in loving homes."
The fundraiser allows customers, associates and vendor partners the opportunity to donate $1, $5, $10 or $20. Donors receive a cutout bunny that is displayed with their personal message in their neighborhood PETCO store. Donors of $20 or more also receive an Animal Awareness Pin to wear proudly to proclaim their support of animal rescue efforts.
"Through their contributions, our customers help the Foundation in its efforts to help animal welfare groups improve the lives of those future companions," Jolly added. "Donations to this fundraiser have nearly tripled since its inception in 1999, clearly demonstrating the caring bond for companion animals within the PETCO family."
