Hoping to help ease the suffering of two and four-legged victims of Hurricane Frances, PETCO Animal Supplies, Inc. and the PETCO Foundation are holding an emergency "Round Up" fundraiser in all of their 690+ locations. Customers will be asked to round up their purchases to the next highest dollar, with all proceeds going to the PETCO Foundation to support animal welfare disaster relief needs within Florida and the region. Customers from across the country may also donate to Florida Hurricane Disaster Relief on-line at http://www.petco.com/.
"We were able to assist where needed in response to Hurricane Charley," PETCO Vice-President of Operations for the East Coast Dave Charron said. "However, we anticipate the needs resulting from this storm will be much greater and are asking our customers, vendors and associates to help us offer assistance in any way we can."
The Round-Up fundraiser will run from today through September 12, and may be extended depending on the need and the amount raised. The PETCO Foundation has already provided more than $20,000 worth of assistance to animal welfare agencies in the wake of Hurricane Charley, including a $10,000 grant to help the Broward County Humane Society provide field support to affected agencies in the stricken part of the state, as well as product to shelters in need.
