This Saturday and Sunday, all PETCO stores around the nation are expected to participate in the PETCO's Ninth Annual National Pet Adoption Days. To highlight PETCO's commitment to animal welfare, nearly 2,000 animal welfare organizations will have companion animals available throughout the weekend for adoption at all participating PETCO locations.
"We're pleased to offer our customers and all pet loving people an opportunity to help their local animal welfare adoption groups by adopting a new companion animal into their family," said Paul Jolly, Vice President and Director, PETCO Foundation.
PETCO encourages customers to consider the adoption option before the purchase of any companion animal -- even if it's one of the birds, reptiles, or small animals currently offered in PETCO stores. Each PETCO location features a "Think Adoption First" kiosk with an adoption resource guide that highlights local animal welfare organizations and the pets they have available for adoption. Over 100 PETCO locations have direct access to PETCO and the PETCO Foundation's online adoption partner, Petfinder.com that is currently celebrating their 10th birthday and 10 million pet adoptions. Together PETCO, the PETCO Foundation, Petfinder.com and animal welfare organizations across the country hope to end the problem of pet homelessness.
PETCO further encourages adoptions by offering new pet parents special Adoption Gift Booklets with up to $350 in discounts on PETCO products and services. The booklets are available for dog, cat, small animal, bird, and reptile adoptions. To cash in on the savings, new pet parents simply bring their adoption papers to any PETCO location to stock up on supplies and welcome their new family member home. Adoption booklets are provided to customers after they submit their adoption papers.
