SAN DIEGO, Aug. 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to the drought currently affecting California, Unleashed by Petco is canceling its two Southern California "Summer Snow Days" events set for this Saturday, August 23, 2014.
Unleashed by Petco prides itself on being loyal to the local communities they are a part of, and although this yearly event is much anticipated by pet parents and pets alike, the company has decided that canceling the Los Angeles and San Diego events was the right thing to do. More than 80 percent of California is in extreme drought, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.
Both the Los Angeles and San Diego events have been in the works since last year, but out of concern for the environment and water conservation efforts statewide, the decision was ultimately made to halt the 2014 events.
The three events taking place in New York City, Washington D.C. and Boston will remain unaffected.
