SAN DIEGO, Oct. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Just in time for the Halloween season, Petco is educating families on a number of creepy crawly pets with another Reptile Rally event at all stores nationwide. Children of all ages will learn about interesting snakes, spiders and lizards, including rainbow boas, veiled chameleons and lots of other not-so-scary pets.
This free, family-friendly event takes place at all Petco stores on October 11, 2014, from 1-3 p.m. During the event, current and prospective pet parents can learn more about unique cold-blooded creatures such as:
Brazilian Rainbow Boas
These snakes really know how to celebrate Halloween! They are available in variations of red and orange color patterns, but they also have an iridescence that can be seen in certain lighting. They're primarily a terrestrial snake, which means they spend most of their time on the ground.
Veiled Chameleons
These lizards are popular due to their appearance, including protruding eyes that swivel 180 degrees so they can keep an eye out for ghouls and goblins on Halloween night. The large crest or "veil" on top of their head is used to collect moisture and directs it downward toward their mouths.
Guests who attend the event will also learn how to care for the complete health of these critters, including how to address their physical, mental, social and emotional needs. Knowledgeable staff will be on hand for reptile "Meet & Greets" and can answer any questions. Additionally, kids will also receive exciting Halloween temporary tattoos and trading cards featuring their favorite reptiles.
